RFID inventory management solution

Use of RFID hand-held scanners in conjunction to IoT architecture to simplify, speed-up and optimize inventory management in large scale storage facilities.
Enables customer to access and manage contents of storage containers in seconds and with ease, while allowing for easy scalability and future innovation.
Possible future developments include Track and Trace, Digital Twins, Business apps and AI integration.
The solution uses RFID technology to lable and track assets with programmable tags. Both the asset and storage container are tagged. Collected data is gathered into cloud storage, where reports and data-analysis is done.
Track and trace for assets, easy and fast interface, inventory management and storage are trackable
Future development includes static RFID readers, presence sensors, cameras and other IoT devices. Digital twin, AI- technology and business apps.
Emission control system

A large proportion of city buses, coaches, and trucks still use internal combustion engines (ICE) and are far from the end of their service life. Many countries and cities have decided to allocate public funds to support the installation of effective exhaust aftertreatment systems on existing vehicles. Today, NOx emissions are the main concern. The annual threshold values set for nitrogen dioxide (NO2) (40 µg/m3) in the EU directive on ambient air quality have been exceeded in many busy roadside areas in large cities for several years.
Our experts participated in creating, deploying, and maintaining Proventia ProCare Drive v2.0, which provides a system to gather data from NOx purification system performance for further analysis and governmental use. The system consists of a physical gateway component installed on a vehicle and a cloud service for management and troubleshooting purposes.
The system gathers information from a retrofit solution over the mobile network to the cloud. This enables almost real-time monitoring of the modified vehicles, providing the needed information for the local government, vehicle operators, and Proventia OY.
The solution is based on an event processing platform capable of reacting to scalar and spatial data in real-time. Data streams come from sensor and locator systems. Applications and administrators utilizing the system define business rules for action triggering. As an action, the system can send messages, call external systems, and push data to databases.
The platform also provides a map service for displaying the real-time locations of the targets and services for the routing of targets. The platform implements map tile visualization, and in addition, alternative map tile visualization and navigation are integrated into the system from a third-party provider.
IoT integration into MOXA
Every driver has experience of using roads with builtin sensors that measure the weight on the top of the road and send simple signal to traffic light.
Similar approach is widely used in industrial cases, for example in excavations, where the weght of the load is measured on the gateway together with the car. The scale is built in to the road and measuring weight several times in a second thus making quite accurate measuring of almost non-stop truck. Such a scale is usually simple device that send serial signals to the recepient, for example to the display. Industrial computers, like MOXA allows to receive data from serial ports and send it further to the cloud into different operation management systems.
Innotrain solution integrates MOXA to Cloud Azure Iot Solution. Components, deployed on Moxa allow to receive, translate, filter, and analyse serial data and send to Azure IoT HUB. The solution fully support Azure IoT device concept, including support for device twins, direct methods, device update. The solution runs as a service on Moxa Industrial Linux. Data from IoT HUB can be sent to different business and analytic applications. Innotrain solution anables remote support, apgrate, diagnose, reboot and other fuctionalities that makes possible to manage the system remotely even in remote closed industrial sites. Additionally to serial devices MOXA support wide range of industrial protocols, including Modbus TCP, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, IEC 61850, CANopen and more, catering to energy and industrial automation applications.
IoT Platform for municipalities

Despite the availability of various Smart City solutions in recent decades, IoT systems for municipalities still face challenges related to integration, user complexity, and alignment with local government needs. Key issues include:
- Technology Integration: Municipal IoT solutions often require merging diverse technologies, making systems challenging to manage and integrate.
- Device Onboarding: Adding new devices can be complex, requiring technical expertise, especially in software engineering, to configure, maintain, and operate these systems.
- Data Utilization: Although IoT devices generate large amounts of data, municipalities frequently struggle to leverage this data fully, hindering potential insights that could benefit urban planning and public services.
- Alignment with Citizen Needs: There can be a disconnect between the investments in IoT infrastructure and the tangible benefits seen by citizens, creating uncertainty around ROI for municipalities.
Innotrain addresses these challenges by offering an end-to-end solution, including customizable tools and components that integrate multiple technologies, facilitate migration to a single cloud platform, streamline device onboarding, and support edge computing. Innotrain’s process includes:
- Feasibility Study: Evaluating specific customer needs and requirements to establish scope and direction.
- Development of Reference Architecture: Designing a tailored architecture to serve as a guide for solution implementation.
- Cost Estimation: Calculating investment requirements to align with budgetary constraints.
- Implementation and Deployment: Using agile methods and prototyping to build and deploy the solution efficiently.
- Support and Maintenance: Ensuring ongoing functionality, updates, and troubleshooting.
This approach aims to simplify IoT integration for municipalities, maximize data usage, and align the IoT infrastructure closely with the needs of cities and their residents.
